The Cleveland Museum of Art, Wade Park, City. Gentlemen:

I have not sent in my annual subscription to the Museum because I have been hoping to be able to continue my membership. Things have been breaking in such a way, however, that I find it impossible to do so, and I hereby resign my membership.1

I suspect there are others in the same condition, but I hope not enough of them to seriously impair the valuable work of the Museum.

Sincerely yours, CWC:ES

Correspondent: The Cleveland Museum of Art opened in 1916 in a newly constructed neoclassical building in Wade Park. Chesnutt was a member from 1916 until he cancelled his membership in September of 1932 to cut expenses.

1. The annual membership fee for the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1932 cost $10. [back]
