THE CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF ART1 CLEVELAND, OHIO, U.S.A. STATION E WILLIAM MATHEWSON MILLIKEN, DIRECTOR CABLE ADDRESS: MUSART CLEVELAND Mr. Charles W. Chesnutt, 1646 Union Trust Building, Cleveland, Ohio. My dear Mr. Chesnutt:

I am sorry to learn that you have decided to discontinue your membership for the coming year and wish to thank you for your past contributions.

You are among the few who have continued your connection with the Museum since its early days, having been a member for sixteen years, and such friendly interest is largely responsible for the success of the work which has been carried on.

We endeavor to make the Museum as nearly as possible a free institution, but the income from endowments and trust funds is not sufficient to carry on the work, so it is necessary to have in addition dues from a large membership, in return for which special privileges are accorded.

However, whether or not you are a member, you will be welcome here at all times, and we trust that we may again have the pleasure of enrolling you as a member.

Sincerely yours, I. T. Frary I.T. Frary, Membership Secretary. ITF:MG
