March 9, 1922.
Mr. Jimmie Hicks,
2744 East 14th Street,
City.
Dear Sir:
I have a letter from Fayettville, N. C., dated February 10, 1922, from Mat‸thew L. Hicks,1 who is trying to find his father, Edward Hicks, who left Pittsburgh, fifteen years ago to take a painting contract in the West.2 The last letter his people had from him was postmarked Cleveland, and I am asked to try to locate him if possible. If you are connected with Mr. Hicks in any way or know him and will kindly so advise me in the enclosed stamped and directed envelope, I shall be very much obliged.3
Yours very truly, CWC/FLCorrespondent: A James Hicks, laborer, is listed as living at the given address in the Cleveland City Directory of 1921. Life dates are not known. Contact the Charles W. Chesnutt Archive if you have further information.
