"The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything." Theodore Roosevelt.
We agree with the Boston Transcript that if the citizens of New York insist that the day of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" is done, and that it must be taken from the libraries of the city public schools, we say that if such expulsion is warranted on the ground that this book has served its purpose, let Mr. Charles W. Chesnutt's "The Marrow of Tradition," which tells to-day's story of the Negro's unjust treatment and which might be considered a sequel to Mrs. Stowe's very valuable historical novel, be placed in the libraries to fill the place of "Uncle Tom's Cabin."
