Houghton-Mifflin have reissued, after twenty-five years, Charles W. Chestnutt's novel, "The Conjure Woman" ($2), with an introduction by J. E. Springarm. Mr. Chestnutt, pioneer novelist of the Negro race, remains one of the most considerable figures of Negro literature. The present novel, one of his earliest, is a folk tale of unquestioned charm and reality.
