Chicago, Ill.
Dec. 31, 1923.
My dear Mr. Chesnutt:
Thank you very much for your kindness in complying with my request for an autograph. I am delighted to have your letter as well as the card in my collection.
Very truly yours, Albert JohannsenCorrespondent: Albert Johannsen (1871–1962) was a White Iowa-born geologist who specialized in microscopal petrography. He worked for the U.S. Geological Survey (1903–1925) and taught at the University of Chicago (1909–1937). He was also a photographer, collected autographs, dime novels, and first editions of Charles Dickens, and, after his retirement, published a multi-volume guide to dime novels and a book on an early Dickens illustrator.
