"Frederick Douglass," by Charles W. Chesnutt, has been added to the "Beacon Biographies." Small, Maynard and Co., publishers. Price 75 cents. "The aim of this series is to furnish brief readable, and authentic accounts of the lives of those Americans whose personalities have impressed themselves most deeply on the character and history of the country." This little volume devotes 141 pages to Frederick Douglass and has an historical value to any library. The book is of the sort that will inspire ambition into the heart and serve to reintroduce a confidence of continued perseverance to those who are doing their best to attain a foothold in self advancement.
