HOUSE BEHIND THE CEDARS, THE. By Charles W. Chesnutt. The author writes of the hopes, aspirations and difficulties of those who have but a small percentage of negro blood in their veins. He has opened up a new field of romance and reality, of which he writes with perfect knowledge, for he is one of the people whom he describes. He is another brilliant example of the fact that there is no color line in literature. 294 pp. 12mo.–Chicago Times-Herald.
