"The Conjure Woman," By Charles Chastnutt, contains seven short stories dealing with negro dialect and character. The author is very successful in his dealing with negro dialect, which he describes with much humor and with a knowledge born of experience. The stories are all good and well worth the reading. Published by Messrs, Houghton, Mifflin & Company.
